After the great success of the previous summer schools, we are proud to announce the 3rd German-French Summer School on Electrochemistry & Nanotechnologies. It will be held on the Porquerolles Island (France) from the 18th to the 23rd september 2011.

This summer school is addressed to PhD students, post-docs and young researchers that want to enlarge their knowledge in Electrochemistry and Nanotechnologies. It is organized by the C'Nano PACA and the Fraunhofer Institut für Werkstoffmechanik and it is supported by the CNRS and the German-French University (UFA-DFH).

Nowadays most of the relevant progresses in physics, chemistry, and biology are based on the knowledge of the composition, structure and properties of the matter at the nanoscale. The spectacular evolution of nanosystems has attracted a large community of scientists. Among the various techniques used to fabricate and characterize nano-objects, electrochemistry has already shown its high utility. It is used in multiple fields such as electronics, energy storage, photovoltaics, environment, catalysis, biology-medicine, corrosion...

An international scientific committee has thus been assembled in order to provide a high education level in the fields of Electrochemistry and Nanotechnologies. It targets also to offer a multidisciplinary teaching for non-specialists in order to depict the main issues and developments of the various subjects.Three different fields have been selected:

    Energy & Environment
    Innovative Materials
    Biology & Health

Fundamental concepts as well as recent applications arisen from these three major fields of research will be developed in order to give a broad overview of the deep impact of electrochemistry in nanotechnologies.

A special issue of the Comptes Rendus Chimie (Elsevier) will be published after the summer school.
